Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my boiler serviced?
Your boiler should be serviced once a year by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Annual servicing keeps your boiler running safely and efficiently, maintains your manufacturer warranty, and helps identify small faults before they become expensive breakdowns.
What does a boiler service include?
A full boiler service includes a visual inspection of the boiler and flue, checking all controls and safety devices, cleaning internal components, testing combustion performance, checking for gas leaks and corrosion, and issuing a service report. We will advise you of any issues found and provide a clear quote for any remedial work required.
Will a boiler service invalidate my warranty if I don’t use the manufacturer?
No. As long as the service is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, your manufacturer warranty remains valid. You are not required to use the manufacturer’s own service network. Gastek Home Assist are Gas Safe registered and accredited Worcester Bosch and Ideal installers, so we are fully qualified to service boilers under warranty.
How long does a boiler service take?
A standard annual boiler service typically takes 45 to 90 minutes. If additional work or repairs are needed, we will discuss this with you before proceeding.
Do I need a boiler service if my boiler seems to be working fine?
Yes. Many boiler faults develop slowly and may not be obvious until they cause a breakdown. Carbon monoxide leaks are invisible and odourless but potentially fatal. Annual servicing is the only reliable way to ensure your boiler is operating safely, and it is a legal requirement for landlords to service gas appliances in rented properties every 12 months.
