What Is a Boiler Service?
A boiler service is a thorough check of all the parts of your central heating system to ensure that they are working safely and efficiently. During a service, your engineer will remove your boiler’s casing, and visually check for any leaks or corrosion. They will clean the inside of the system. The burner, spark probe and the injector will be inspected.
Testing will be carried out to ensure no dangerous fumes are being emitted into your home. What Does a Boiler Service Include?
- Visual Inspection
Your engineer will begin your boiler service by visually inspecting your boiler. The outer casing will be removed and the interior will be checked and cleaned. Any necessary adjustments to the internal parts will be made. Signs of distress and damage will be noted to you, so you can plan repairs. - Operation and Control
There are several safety devices included in your system. All of these will be tested to ensure they are operating correctly. - Flue and Combustion Releases
Construction, the route of the flue pipe from the boiler to the outside of your home, and termination will be checked. This involves ensuring there are no obstructions and everything has been fitted correctly and safely. - Cleaning the Main Boiler Components
The main components of your boiler will be removed and cleaned. This will aid your engineer in checking for noticeable faults and that all your components remain fit for purpose. The parts included in these checks are; ignition pins, flue ways, the heat exchanger, and the main burner.
Further Checks
Once the initial key inspections have been completed, there are further tests included in a boiler service. These can include:

How long will a boiler service take?
